Written by Kris Kristensen Vocals: Kris Kristensen The days of trying are over, the time for doubt has passed; It’s time for my mind to roll over, to project what I want to have; It’s time to stop worrying about failure, say goodbye to “at least I tried”, just go out there, make it happen, allow the music to rise; See the stage from which I’ll be singing, let it out till the crowds will dance, envision the streets in which my music, will bring laughter, tears, romance?; Feel the weight of that bucket that’s filling, feel the sun sing along in the sky, I spent a whole lot of years on trying, now it’s time for trying to die; Don’t give in to that nagging negativity, saying “it’s okay to fail and run dry”, let’s erase it all from our vocab, for it’s time for trying to die.

I’m not just your lover, I’m a ripple in your sea, spreading slow across your surface, by a hand so tenderly; I’m not just your lovers, I’m and independent soul, and I flirt with moons and music, dont’t let my story go untold; I’m not just a man, no, there’s a playful child inside, and traces of a woman, I wonder, does she have your eyes?; Walking graceful standing strong, sometimes weak, head up high, carry sorrow, joy and pain, carry truth as well as lies I’m not just a gentle face, waiting around to be kissed, part of me is that fickle creature, disappearing in the mist; And I’m not a traveler, who lives and let live, no I don’t believe in solitude, I wanna share, receive and give; And I’m not a stranger, though we met along that way, part of me feels I’ve known your gaze, forever, and a day; And despite the scars on my skin, most are etched to the bone, if you want, I’ll undress, and show your; I’m not a steady lover, no, I’m intense in most of ways, like rivers, like volcanos, like flies, born and dead in May; Thought it might not be forever, I am here now with you, to whisper, listen, laugh and kiss, to dance to our tune; I’m not just your lover, I’m a ripple in your sea, spreading slow across your surface, by a hand so tenderly; And you know what they say about ripples, they might turn into waves, but waves always settle, so do hearts.

Glitter girl 03:25
Sitting in the cold and empty streets, glitter flows from her wings; She’s old enough to sit out here alone, still, not old enough to drink; Been smothered in your filthy words, beaten more than twice, I think it’s fair to say, she had her share of dirt; Now her body’s bruised, her mind is so confused, but worst of all, her soul is crying, cause it’s hurt; She’s old enough for hardship, for receiving more shit than you can think; She’s old enough to move on and forgive, Still not old enough to drink; And still she smiles, and takes you in, and still she smiles, while glitter flows from her wings; Left her home at 17, with enough scars for a lifetime, but life, oh life, wasn’t done with her quite yet; Found strength above to fight her way, dancing long into the night, with filthy words, grimy hands, thieves in the dark, oh no, that shit ain’t right; She’s old enough to make a dime, where most would shriek and shrink; But not old enough to drown her tears, no, she’s not old enough to drink; Still she smiles and forgives, and takes the world in; Still she smiles and forgives, and glitter flows from her wings; Still she smiles and forgives, she’s not old enough to drink.

If there’s a song I could sing, to make a quiet heart smile, it probably wouldn’t be this tune; Rather some kind of swing, light as a butterfly’s wings, about weeks that felt like years with you; If there’s a song I could sing, to make a quiet heart laugh, to skip a beat and dance along with you; Like that first time on that corner, outside of that bar, that made february Tuesday feel so like June; But I got so many songs to make a dancing heart weep, so many words to paint it blue; And however much I long for one, however far I seek, there just ain’t no excuse, for a careless fool; If there’s a song I could sing, to make a quiet heart trust, it might have to be more profound; Like that sparrow soaring high, singing her poems to the sky, with a warm, yet piercing sound. But I got so many songs to make a trusting heart weep, so many words to paint it blue; And however much I long for one, however far I seek, there just ain’t no excuse, for a careless fool; If I had only one song, to make a quiet heart sing, you know, I’d play it on repeat; I’d play it in your kitchen, in your bed while you sleep, I’d sing it out loud, in every single street; But I got too many songs, to make a singing heart weep, too many words to paint it blue; And however much I long for one, however far I seek; there just ain’t no excuse, for a care less fool No, however much I long for one, however far I seek, there just ain’t no excuse, there just ain’t no excuse, there just ain’t no excuse, for a careless fool.

about

This album is a pre-release album.

It marks the first time I have ever set foot in a studio, and I wanted to document and share this experience.

Encounters is a stand-alone project, as well as the beginning of a larger project and full feature album to be release in the forthcoming year.

I have been writing continuously throughout 2018 and I am very excited to record and share all of these creations when they have reached their full state of fruition.

All support for this pre-release will go towards funding my first full album.
